The Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Rauma Marine Constructions Oy, Mr. Stig Gustavson celebrated his 80th birthday on Tuesday, 17 June. Mr. Gustavson is one of the most significant influencers in the Finnish business sector – a reformer of industry over the long term and a forerunner in the development of the technology industry.
Stig Gustavson obtained the degree of MSc in Engineering at the University of Technology in 1971 and has crafted a remarkable career in the positions of, for example, the President and CEO and Board Chairperson at Konecranes. The company became under his leadership an acknowledged manufacturer of lifting equipment and a technology-driven company listed on the stock exchange. Gustavson is particularly recognised for his strategic thinking, future-oriented leadership, and ability to build business operations through varying economic trends.
Having already had an impressive career spanning over several decades, Mr. Gustavson still continues in the role of an active operator in industry. He has sat on the Boards of Directors and held positions of expertise in several companies, and has represented Finland with his knowledge also in international positions of trust. Mr. Gustavson has been the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Rauma Marine Constructions since 2022. He has had a key role of influence in the strategic growth and new upturn of the company.
Gustavson’s career has also been characterised by his strong commitment to promoting education, developing long-term competence, and building a sustainable industrial future. His merits have been acknowledged with several honours, including the title of Vuorineuvos (Counsellor of Mining, an honorary Finnish title) in 2005. In addition, the President of the Republic of Finland awarded him the Decoration of Commander, First Class, of the Order of the White Rose of Finland in 2007 and the Decoration of Commander, First Class, of the Order of the Lion of Finland in 2023.
