The hull of the second multi‑purpose corvette was completed at the turn of the year. As the hull painting has progressed, protective coverings around the vessel have now been removed, and the full structure is becoming increasingly visible in the shipyard’s multi‑purpose hall.
Outfitting work is proceeding as planned, and the vessel is currently being prepared for launching this spring.
Investments Enable a Smooth Launching Process
Investments in the shipyard area and infrastructure support the progress of the project. The heavy‑transport ramp completed at the end of 2024, as well as the specially acquired and modified launch barge, will be taken into use again for the upcoming launch.

These capabilities were used for the first time last spring, when the first corvette of the series was successfully launched.
During the launching operation, the vessel is moved along the heavy‑transport ramp onto the submerged barge. The barge is then transported into deeper water and carefully submerged beneath the vessel, allowing the ship to be safely set afloat.
All Four Corvettes Now in Production
In January, production of the fourth multi‑purpose corvette began. On the same day, the keel‑laying ceremony for the third corvette was held.
All four vessels are now in production simultaneously.
Designed for the demanding and variable conditions of the Baltic Sea — including winter ice operations — the corvettes represent a significant national undertaking. The project directly employs more than 3,600 person‑years in Finland and strengthens domestic marine industry expertise.
