The hull of the third multi-purpose corvette has been completed at the Rauma shipyard. The completion of the hull marks another significant milestone in the Squadron 2020 programme, with all four vessels now simultaneously under construction.

With the hull now complete, the vessel will move on to the next stages of production. Outfitting work will continue in the shipyard’s multipurpose hall, and the vessel is scheduled to be launched later this year.

The programme has reached several other important milestones as well. The second corvette in the series was successfully launched earlier this spring, and its outfitting work is progressing as planned.

In August, the keel-laying ceremony of the fourth multi-purpose corvette was celebrated. Keel laying is a traditional and significant milestone in shipbuilding, marking the start of hull construction.

As a result of these achievements, each of the four multi-purpose corvettes has progressed according to schedule into different phases of construction.

The multi-purpose corvettes are designed for the demanding and highly variable conditions of the Baltic Sea, including operations during icy winter conditions. The programme directly generates more than 3,600 person-years of employment in Finland and significantly strengthens domestic maritime expertise and security of supply.
