The traditional Spring seminar of Finnish Marine Industries was held in Rauma on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. The seminar was preceded by a visit to the Rauma shipyard hosted by Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC).

It has been 10 years since the founding of RMC. Over the years, the shipyard has grown and developed into an international expert in the shipbuilding industry. Currently, RMC’s order book includes four multi-role corvettes for the Navy and two passenger-car ferries for Spirit of Tasmania in Australia. During the visit, representatives of maritime industry companies familiarized themselves with ongoing projects and production facilities.

After the shipyard visit, the spring seminar commenced, where Rauma’s Mayor, Esko Poikela, spoke about the city’s strategic outlook in the maritime industry. In his speech, he emphasized the city’s strong commitment to and pride in the shipyard.

At the seminar, John Anastassiou, the technical project manager of Spirit of Tasmania, discussed the significance of sister ships to the shipping company.

Other speeches were given by representatives from various maritime industry companies, and the concluding remarks were delivered by RMC’s CEO, Mika Nieminen.
