Rauma
Founded in 1442, Rauma is Finland’s third-oldest city. We have lived on these shores for generations, embraced the mystery of the sea, and learned to respect its power. In summer, its shores have been the scene of our families’ joy. In winter, we have met its harshest faces, and it has taught us resilience.
Here in Rauma, children grow up watching ships being built where their parents work. They train at local maritime schools, then return to build the next generation of vessels. This living ecosystem — city, shipyard, and university working as one — is why Finland leads in specialized shipbuilding.
Our location on Finland’s west coast offers direct access to the open sea and authentic Nordic conditions. Every winter, the Baltic freezes — providing real ice for training and sea trials. As a NATO member, Finland’s western shore offers a secure environment for international cooperation, with a strong network of maritime suppliers within reach.
Rauma Marine Constructions
Rauma Marine Constructions is a key contributor to Finland’s national strategic shipbuilding capacity — fully Finnish-owned, utilizing the Rauma Seaside Industrial Park facilities. Deep cooperation with the City of Rauma guarantees substantial capacity and investment capability to fulfill the most challenging demands.
We have a complete in-house fabrication process from steel cutting to final commissioning, two indoor facilities for year-round hull assembly, and docking capacity for multiple vessels. We work together with a network of close partners in ship design, key components suitable for harsh environments, and flexible access to resources.
We are currently building multi-purpose corvettes for the Finnish Navy and U.S. Coast Guard Arctic Security Cutters as part of an international team. Our products are known for their outstanding performance, sustainability, and innovations.
Our collaboration with local partners: SAMK, other educational partners, local partner companies, and the City of Rauma creates a unique center of excellence in shipbuilding and Arctic operations know-how.
